Jashon
Masculine
Jashon is overwhelmingly a boys’ name — 957 boys against 6 girls since 1880.
English has four ways to spell the sound shon and none of them uses sh. Nation, mission, suspicion and ocean all end in it, spelled -tion, -ssion, -cion and -cean — so a name needing that sound has no conventional option and must write -shon outright.

Our story of Jashon
English spelling has a specific gap here and it is worth pointing at. The sound at the end of nation is extremely common in the language, and it is written four different ways, all of them inherited from Latin and French endings: -tion, -sion, -cion, -cean. Not one of them uses the letters sh, even though sh is the ordinary English spelling for that consonant everywhere else — ship, wash, fashion. The reason is historical: the -tion words came in whole from French with their spelling attached, and the pronunciation shifted afterwards. So a modern name that needs the sound and is not a Latin abstract noun has nowhere to go but -shon, which looks invented and is in fact the only phonetically honest option available. Jashon peaks in 2003.

Not established
No inherited meaning as a whole. Ja- is a created prefix; Shon is a respelling of Sean, the Irish form of John, from Hebrew Yohanan. The base name has a settled meaning and the compound does not. Jashon, Jashaun and Jashawn are the same name written three ways, and none is more correct than the others.

The Kippy test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Jashon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Kippy climbed just as high around 1955, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Kippy's path sketches the road Jashon is walking now.
