Free limits are lifetime, not monthly — they do not reset. Signing up keeps what you used as a guest rather than handing out a fresh set. Unlimited removes every limit above for good.
One person pays. Everyone plays.
Only the person creating a game ever needs Unlimited.
You create the game
A family vote, a swipe deck, a bracket. This is the only step that ever needs a free slot or Name Battle Unlimited — and only for the person creating it.
You send one link
A text, the group chat, an email to grandma. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for on their side.
They tap, vote, swipe
Your partner, your parents, the friends who have opinions — everyone plays from the link, free, with no account, for as long as the game is open.
Why one payment
Because a name takes months, not years.
A subscription would outlive the decision
Most families settle on a name within a few months. A plan that bills every month is a plan you have to remember to cancel; one payment ends when the checkout does.
Nothing to buy blind
The free plan is a real plan — every game, with limits. You find out whether this suits your family before a card comes out, which is also why purchases are generally final once Unlimited is delivered.
Less than one board book
$9.99 for every tool until the birth certificate is signed — and nothing to cancel afterwards.
Questions parents ask before paying
- Do I need an account to try the games?
- No. You can run quick battles, browse every name, and vote, swipe or guess on any link someone shares with you without ever signing up. A free account matters when you want to create your own votes, decks or comparisons and come back to them later — it also lifts the guest limits to 3 comparisons, 2 family votes and an 8-name tournament.
- Does everyone I invite have to pay or sign up?
- Never. Anyone you send a link to — your partner, your mother, a group chat — votes or swipes in one tap, on their phone, with no account and no cost. The purchase only ever applies to the person creating the games.
- Is $9.99 really a one-time payment?
- Yes. There is no subscription and no renewal. You are naming one baby over a few months, not signing up for a service you will forget to cancel. The regular price is $14.99; in October it is $9.99, and whatever you pay is the last time you pay.
- What happens when the October discount ends?
- New purchases go to the regular price of $14.99. Anyone who already bought keeps Unlimited — nobody is billed again, and the October discount is never taken back.
- How do I buy, and how fast does it unlock?
- Sign in with a one-time link or Google so Unlimited is tied to your account, then pay through Paddle — card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay, where available. Unlimited usually unlocks within a minute of the payment confirming; if it has not, refresh the page or write to support@babynamebattles.com with your receipt number. The receipt itself arrives by email.
- Will the price be different where I live?
- Checkout shows your local currency and the tax that applies where you live before you pay. In the United States, sales tax is added at checkout where your state charges it; where prices are customarily shown with tax included, such as the EU and the UK, the total at checkout already includes it. Paddle.com, our merchant of record, calculates the tax so the receipt is correct wherever you are.
- Can I try Name Battle before paying?
- Yes, and you should. The Free plan includes full comparisons, family votes, couple swipe decks, reveal games and an 8-name tournament, so you can find out whether this suits you before spending anything. Because Unlimited is delivered the moment you buy it, purchases are generally final after delivery or use — except where the law says otherwise, or where a technical problem stops you using what you paid for and we cannot fix it.
- Where does the data come from?
- Every rank, chart and trend comes from the US Social Security Administration's baby-name records — every name given to five or more babies since 1880, 146 years in total. It is refreshed each year when the SSA publishes new figures.
