Name predictions for 2030
5-year projection · 40 projected movers
Where the charts are headed: for every ranked name we fit a damped linear trend to its recent birth counts and project it 5 years forward. A sketch of the road ahead, not a promise — trends bend, and the model says so where its confidence is thin.

How the forecast works
The model, named plainly
Each projection is a damped linear trend fitted to that name's recent birth counts from official US Social Security records. Damped means the trend is deliberately flattened as it goes: a name climbing fast today is projected to keep climbing, but more slowly each year, because that is what name trends historically do. Names are then re-ranked against each other in the projection year, only names ranked in today's top 600 are compared, and names with too little history to model are left out rather than guessed at.
Projections update as new annual data lands. See the data & methodology page for the sources behind the counts themselves.
