Questions people ask

How does the reveal game work?

You pick the name you've chosen and we hide it on a board of 4, 6 or 8 names — the rest are lookalikes from the same US records, close in popularity, or the very names your family heard you consider. You share one link. Everyone taps the one they'd bet on, once. When you're ready — or at a time you set — you reveal, and the page turns into the announcement.

Can guests tell which name is real?

No. Every name on the board is a real one from the records, so the meanings and pronunciations are true for all of them and give nothing away. The link, the share card and the page never mark the real one until you reveal it — and the split of guesses is hidden until then unless you choose otherwise.

Where do the decoys come from?

From the same 146 years of US birth records as everything else on the site. We deal names that sit next to yours in popularity, so a guest can't tell #38 from #44 — and you can swap any of them, deal again, or pull in your own shortlist, which makes the hardest board of all.

Do guests need an account?

Never. They open the link, tap a name, leave their own name so you know who called it, and they're done. They can ask for one email when the name is revealed — that's the only thing we'll ever send them.

Can I schedule the reveal?

Yes. Set a date and time and the page flips itself when the moment comes — at the shower, on the due date, at grandma's dinner. Everyone who asked gets the email then. You can always reveal earlier from your console.

Is it free?

1 reveal game is free without an account and 2 with a free one; Unlimited lifts the cap. Playing a link you were sent is free for everyone, always.
