Deaglan
Masculine · “Irish”
Declan is older than Patrick in Ireland. Declan of Ardmore is one of the pre-Patrician saints — figures recorded as evangelising Munster before the mission of 432 — and their existence is the main evidence that Christianity reached the south of Ireland before Patrick did.

The story of Deaglan
The four pre-Patrician saints — Declan, Ailbe, Ciarán of Saigir and Abbán — are recorded in later Irish tradition as having been active before Patrick, and their lives place them in Munster and Leinster rather than in the north. Historians treat the claims cautiously, since the surviving lives were written centuries afterwards and had local reasons to assert priority over Armagh. What is not in doubt is that Christianity was present in Ireland before 432, because Pope Celestine sent Palladius that year to the Irish already believing in Christ. Declan's monastery at Ardmore has a round tower and a ruined oratory. The American figures for the Deaglan spelling peak in 2015.
Meaningnot established
Irish, of uncertain sense — possibly "full of goodness"
Deaglán is the Irish form and Declan the anglicization. The derivation is not established; readings such as full of goodness and man of prayer are offered without secure support. The name belongs to Declan of Ardmore, and its use was for centuries almost entirely confined to the Waterford area where his cult was strongest.

Deaglan's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Severino climbed just as high around 1922, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Severino's path sketches the road Deaglan is walking now.
Deaglan sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
