Our story of Bralyn
Fashions in naming usually operate on whole names or on endings, and this one operated on an opening. From about 1990 the br- cluster expanded across American boys' naming at a rate that no individual name explains: Brandon and Bradley were already established, and Braden, Brayden, Braxton, Bryson, Brody, Brennan, Bryce, Bralyn and Braylon followed in a wave. The cluster is a stop plus a liquid, the most sonorous kind of onset English allows, and it carries a strong forward push in the mouth — which is presumably part of why it spread. What it demonstrates is that the unit of naming fashion is not always a name or even a syllable. It can be a single consonant cluster, chosen thousands of times independently by families who never articulated the preference. Bralyn peaks in 2011.

Not established
No inherited meaning. Bra- is a created onset drawn from Brandon and Braden; the -lyn ending comes from Lynn, a Welsh and English surname element that became an American suffix. Neither contributes a meaning, and Bralyn has no documented reading.
