Alayiah
Feminine
Alayiah is a third-generation name. Aaliyah was the first, an Arabic name with a settled meaning. Then came Alayah and Aliyah, formed on it. Alayiah is formed on those, and by this remove the Arabic is a long way behind.

Our story of Alayiah
A popular name generates variants, and the variants generate variants of their own, and the second generation is where the etymology usually detaches. The Aaliyah family shows this clearly. First Aaliyah itself, a real Arabic name, hugely amplified by one singer in the 1990s. Then the direct respellings: Aliyah, Alaya, Alayah, Aleah. Then the extensions of those: Alayiah, Alayziah, Alayjah, Alayna. Each step is a small change and each step is legible, but by the third generation the name is being formed from other American names rather than from Arabic, and the connection is a family resemblance rather than a descent. Alayiah's peak in 2021 sits in that third generation. This is a completely ordinary thing for names to do, and it has been happening in every language for as long as names have existed.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No source establishes an etymology for this spelling. The family's root is Arabic ʿāliya, high or exalted, feminine of ʿālī — a settled reading for the name Aaliyah. Each successive respelling adds a vowel or moves one, and Alayiah has both an extra a and an extra i relative to the Arabic. There is no point in the chain where the meaning was lost; there is a point at which the spelling stopped tracking the word, and Alayiah is past it.

Three syllables, stress in the middle. Some families give it four as ah-lay-EE-uh, and the extra i in the spelling is presumably meant to produce that; both are in use.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. The Wilmetta test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Alayiah's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Wilmetta climbed just as high around 1918, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Wilmetta's path sketches the road Alayiah is walking now.
Alayiah sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
