Tayveon
Masculine
English has almost no native words beginning with v. Vat and vixen are dialect survivals; everything else, from very to victory, is borrowed from Latin or French. The letter arrived with the Normans and has always felt slightly foreign, which is exactly why American coinage likes it: v is a smooth consonant with no Anglo-Saxon baggage attached.

Our story of Tayveon
Our reading is that the popularity of v in coined American names is a fact about English sound and English history at once. Old English had the sound but not the letter: v appeared only as a positional variant of f between vowels, which is why we still say wife and wives, knife and knives. The letter as an independent character came in with French, and every v-initial word in the language is a loan. That leaves v with no native associations, no cluster of homely words attached to it, and a smooth voiced quality that pairs easily with vowels on either side. Coinages exploit exactly that. The -von, -veon, -vion and -vian endings that fill the American boys' data from the 1980s onward are built on a consonant that is common in speech and rare in the oldest layer of the vocabulary.
