The story of Tamera
Three women in the Hebrew Bible are called Tamar and all three appear in difficult stories: the daughter-in-law of Judah in Genesis, who secures her rights by a stratagem; the daughter of David, raped by her half-brother in Second Samuel; and Absalom's daughter, named for her. The name passed into Georgian, where Queen Tamar ruled at the height of the medieval Georgian kingdom and is a saint of the Georgian church, and into Russian as Tamara. American use came through the Russian form in the twentieth century, and Tamera is one of its respellings, with a best year of 1959.

The Gilda test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Tamera's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Gilda climbed just as high around 1927, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Gilda's path sketches the road Tamera is walking now.
Tamera sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
