The story of Rozlynn
The Germanic name reached Spain with the Visigoths, was reshaped there toward the Latin words it resembled, and returned north as a courtly name; Shakespeare used both Rosalind and Rosaline, and the flower reading was firmly attached by then. English produced Rosalyn and Roslyn in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, dropping the a and taking the -lyn ending that was becoming the standard American suffix. Rozlynn goes one step further and swaps the s for a z, which removes the visual link to rose entirely while keeping the sound intact. Its best year in United States records is 2015.

Rosalind descends from Germanic elements usually given as hros, horse, and lind, which meant a shield of linden wood and by extension soft or gentle. Spanish and Italian speakers reinterpreted it as rosa linda, pretty rose, and that reading has been current for so long that both are now defensible. Rosalyn and Rozlynn come through the reinterpreted branch, and the -lynn ending is a further English modernization.
