Kamorah
Feminine
Kamorah is an American-made name, and the piece worth noticing is its ending. The -ora and -orah terminal is the sound of Latin arriving in English — Aurora, Flora, Isadora, Leonora, Pandora — and it carries an antique weight that a short name cannot. Attach it to a modern Ka- front and you get a name that sounds much older than its 2011 peak.

Our story of Kamorah
Endings carry more information than beginnings, and -ora is one of the loudest in English. It arrived with Latin — Aurora, the dawn; Flora, the flowers; and by extension Isadora, Leonora, Theodora, Pandora — and by the nineteenth century any English speaker hearing it placed a name in the neighborhood of the classical and the grand. That association survived long after the Latin did. So when American families in the 1990s and 2000s built new names from Ka-, Ta- and Za- fronts, the -ora ending was one of the most valuable pieces available: it made a new name sound inherited. Kamorah takes it and adds the h, which does nothing to the sound and everything to the look, giving the word a Hebrew-adjacent solidity on the page. Nothing about it is ancient. Everything about it is designed to sound as though it were.

No documented source. Kamorah has no dictionary entry in any language, and the glosses circulated online are not attributable. What can be described is its construction: Ka- is one of the most productive first elements in late-twentieth-century American naming, and -orah is a terminal borrowed from the Latin-derived names. Kamora, Camora and Zamora sit beside it. The name is a compound of two live English-language naming elements rather than a borrowing.

The SSA counts spellings, not names. Kamorah went to 21 girls in 2025, but Kamora, Camora and Khamora are the same name said out loud. Together the 4 spellings went to 266, which makes it the 699th most-given girls’ name of the year — 5,023 places above the chart.
About 1 girl in 6,042 born in 2025 was given one of these spellings — against 1 in 76,537 for Kamorah itself.
Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method

The Ronya test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Kamorah's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Ronya climbed just as high around 1967, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Ronya's path sketches the road Kamorah is walking now.
Kamorah sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- Kam is an easy, current short form that needs no explanation.
- The -orah ending gives an invented name a genuinely dignified sound.
- It is rare enough that a bearer will almost certainly not share it.
- It has no documented meaning, and none of the glosses online are sourced.
- The silent h is dropped by most people writing from dictation.
- Kamora, Camora and Kamorah all circulate, so records will drift between them.
