The story of Jaquarius
The earth's axis wobbles like a spinning top over a cycle of roughly 25,800 years, which makes the point of the spring equinox move slowly backwards against the fixed stars. Hipparchus noticed it in the second century BC. One consequence is that the tropical zodiac used by Western astrology, fixed to the seasons, has drifted about a whole sign away from the constellations it is named for, so someone born under the sign of Aries now has the sun in Pisces. Another is that the equinox will eventually move into Aquarius, and the date depends entirely on where you draw the constellation boundaries, which nobody agrees on; proposed dates span two thousand years. The phrase entered general use through a 1967 musical, which is a long way from Hipparchus.
Meaningnot established
Latin aquarius, water-carrier
Jaquarius joins the American prefix Ja- to Aquarius, Latin for a water-carrier, from aqua, water; it names the zodiac constellation and sign. The compound is American and the astrological reference is decorative rather than meaningful. The peak is 2001.

The Sarkis test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Jaquarius's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Sarkis climbed just as high around 1923, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Sarkis's path sketches the road Jaquarius is walking now.
Jaquarius sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
