Jamian
Masculine · “Greek damao”
Cosmas and Damian were physicians who took no payment. The Greek church calls them the anargyroi, the silverless ones, and there is a whole class of saints defined by that: healers who refused fees. It is an unusual thing to be canonized for.

The story of Jamian
Cosmas and Damian were, by tradition, twin brothers who practiced medicine in Syria and were martyred under Diocletian, and their cult was enormous in both East and West; they are named in the Roman canon of the mass. What distinguishes them is the refusal of payment. Greek calls them anargyroi, without silver, and the term names a whole category of saints who healed for nothing: Panteleimon, Cyrus and John, Sampson the Hospitable, Thallelaeus. The class exists because paying for medicine was normal and refusing to was remarkable enough to define a sanctity. The best known story attached to Cosmas and Damian is the miracle of the leg, in which they graft a dead man's leg onto a living patient, an episode painted many times and generally regarded as the first transplant in Western art.

Greek damao, to tame or subdue
Jamian is most likely an American formation joining the prefix Ja- to Damian, from Greek Damianos, built on damao, to tame, subdue or master. It may equally be a coinage on the -ian ending with no source. Damian was borne by one of the two physician martyrs venerated across the Christian world. The peak is 1979.
