The story of Evelio
The eu- prefix is one of the most productive elements in Greek and it produced a large family of personal names that Christianity adopted wholesale, because the names were transparent compliments and needed no defense. Eugenios is well-born. Eulalia is well-spoken. Euphemia is of good report, from which euphemism. Eusebios is properly reverent. Eustathios is well-standing, steady. Eudokia is good favor. Evangelos is the bringer of good news, and the same word gives Gospel and evangelist. The prefix also built ordinary vocabulary that English borrowed directly: euphoria, eulogy, euphony, eucalyptus, eureka. Its opposite, dys-, gives dyspepsia and dystopia, and produced almost no names at all, which tells you what the naming system was for.

Greek eu, well or good
Evelio is a Spanish name of disputed origin. It is usually derived from a Greek form built on eu, well or good, with proposals including a connection to euaggelos, bringing good news. A derivation from Latin Aurelius has also been offered. Neither is settled, and Spanish reference works differ. The American peak is 1962.

The Kelso test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Evelio's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Kelso climbed just as high around 1933, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Kelso's path sketches the road Evelio is walking now.
Evelio sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
