Dayon
Masculine
Dayon is overwhelmingly a boys’ name — 748 boys against 11 girls since 1880.
The American prefix slot used to hold syllables: La-, De-, Ja-, Ke-. It now holds words. Day, Sky, King, True, Storm and Legend all appear at the front of coined names, and the shift from meaningless syllable to English noun is recent enough to be dated. Dayon sits on the boundary, with a word at the front and a sound at the back.

Our story of Dayon
Our reading is that Dayon marks a change in what American coinage is made of. The first generation of prefixes, dating from the 1920s to the 1990s, were pure sound: La-, De-, Ja-, Ke-, Za-, with no lexical content whatever, and the whole point of them was that they belonged to no language and therefore to nobody else. The current generation is different. The front of a coined name is now often a real English word with a positive sense, and the effect is to make the name partly readable: a stranger meeting Dayon, Skyler or Kingston recovers something, where a stranger meeting Deshaun recovers nothing. It is a quieter shift than it looks, because the endings have not changed at all: the -on, -en and -an that close these names are the same sexed endings that have closed American boys' names since the 1970s.
Meaningnot established
Not established
Dayon is an American formation. The first element is the English word day, or the Dae and Day prefix that appears across Daeshawn, Dayvon and Daylen; the second is the -on ending common on coined boys' names. Neither carries an inherited meaning, and the name is not attested in any source language. It peaks in 2000.

The Benno test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Dayon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Benno climbed just as high around 1916, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Benno's path sketches the road Dayon is walking now.
Dayon sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
