Dasean
Masculine
English has three ways to mark a join inside a name: an apostrophe, as in O'Brien; a hyphen, as in Jean-Luc; and an internal capital, as in MacDonald. American coinage uses the third far more than any other written tradition, and it uses it in the middle of a single word.

Our story of Dasean
The internal capital has a long history in surnames and a very short one in first names. MacDonald, MacArthur and McKenzie carry it because Mac is a separate word meaning son. O'Brien uses an apostrophe for the same reason, standing for the Irish O, descendant. Dutch van der, French de la and German von der keep their particles as separate words entirely. What American naming did from about 1970 was import the device into a single first name, giving DaSean, DeAndre, LaToya, JaMarcus and DaShawn, where the capital marks a prefix that is not a word and never was. It is doing visual work rather than grammatical work: it shows the reader where to divide the name, which is genuinely useful in a coinage nobody has seen before. Registrars and databases strip it constantly, which is why the same name appears both ways in the record.
Meaningnot established
Not established
Dasean has no inherited etymology as a whole. Its second element is genuine: Sean is the Irish form of John, borrowed from Norman French Jehan. The Da- prefix is American. The name is frequently written DaSean with an internal capital, which is an orthographic device rather than a spelling change. The peak is 2001.

The Tirrell test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Dasean's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Tirrell climbed just as high around 1978, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Tirrell's path sketches the road Dasean is walking now.
Dasean sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
