The story of Corinn
Corinna of Tanagra was a Boeotian poet said to have beaten Pindar in competition; Ovid borrowed the name for the woman of the Amores; and a French novel of 1807 made Corinne a standard European name. Everything after that is spelling. American records contain at least five arrangements of the same two syllables — Corin, Corinn, Coryn, Corryn, Corynn — and none of them is standard, which is the situation for a name that arrived by ear rather than by tradition. This one appears from 1950.
