The story of Chelsie
Chelsea became a fashionable London district in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the name crossed into given-name use in the English-speaking world in the 1970s. American respellings followed almost immediately: Chelsey, Chelsie, Chelsi, Chelsea. This spelling belongs to the -ie wave and peaked in the early 1990s, a few years behind the original.
Meaning

The Helene test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Chelsie's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Helene climbed just as high around 1916, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Helene's path sketches the road Chelsie is walking now.
