The story of Anthoni
Roman gens names are the least transparent part of the European name stock. Antonius, Marcius, Fabius and Julius were clan names inherited over centuries, and by the time anyone thought to ask what they meant the answer had been lost, in several cases because the words were not Latin at all but Etruscan, a language with no surviving relatives. Antonius is one of those. The flower etymology attached to it much later, when Renaissance scholars connected it to Greek anthos and wrote an h into the spelling to show the supposed link; English kept the h and eventually started pronouncing it, which is why Americans say Anthony with a th and the British often do not. The name therefore carries a scholarly error in its spelling and a second one in its American pronunciation, both defending a meaning it never had.
Meaningnot established
Not established
Anthony descends from the Roman family name Antonius, whose meaning is genuinely unknown; it is probably Etruscan, and the connections often offered to Greek anthos, flower, are false, imported along with the h that English inserted in the Renaissance. Anthoni matches the standard Polish and Catalan form Antoni, which is a real name, though the American spelling with h is likelier to be a respelling. The peak is 1990.

The Corinthian test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Anthoni's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Corinthian climbed just as high around 1974, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Corinthian's path sketches the road Anthoni is walking now.
Anthoni sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
