The story of Aaden
Aodh was a common name in early Ireland, and Aodhán was carried by a seventh-century monk of Iona who founded Lindisfarne and evangelised Northumbria. The anglicized Aidan revived in the twentieth century and rose extraordinarily fast in America from the 1990s, taking a whole rhyming family with it — Caden, Braden, Hayden, Jaden. Aaden is one of the many respellings of that wave and peaked in the early 2010s.
Meaning
little fire
Through Aidan, from the Irish Aodhán, a diminutive of Aodh — the name of a Celtic sun or fire deity, and an ordinary Irish word for fire. The diminutive ending -án makes it 'little fire', which is the standard reading and is not disputed.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method

The Daren test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Aaden's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Daren climbed just as high around 1965, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Daren's path sketches the road Aaden is walking now.
Aaden sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
