The story of Reymond
Mund is worth pausing on because it is not a poetic word. In Frankish, Lombard and Anglo-Saxon law, the mund was the protection and authority a man held over his household, and the mundium was a transferable legal right; a marriage involved the transfer of mund over the bride. The related Old English word survives in the phrase to have someone in one's mund, and the Latin borrowing mundium appears throughout the Lombard law codes. So the Germanic names ending in -mund are not saying protector in a vague sense but naming a specific legal capacity, in the same way that names ending in -ric name rule and names ending in -wald name power. Raymond therefore reads, in its original terms, as something like the guardianship of counsel, which is a legal formula rather than a compliment.

The Heberto test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Reymond's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Heberto climbed just as high around 1932, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Heberto's path sketches the road Reymond is walking now.
Reymond sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
