Our story of Naheem
The -eem ending has an unusually well documented American history. Arabic names ending in that sound — Karim, Rahim, Hakim, Naim, Salim — entered American naming in numbers from the 1950s through African American Muslim communities, and the sound became familiar long before most Americans could identify its source. By the 1980s it was detachable: Jakeem, Naheem, Shaheem and Taheem appear in the records with no Arabic word behind them, formed on the ending alone. Naheem sits in the ambiguous middle. It could be Naeem written phonetically by a family that knew the Arabic, or it could be the ending applied to a Na- opening. Its 2009 peak is late enough that either is possible, and the record does not say.

Ease, comfort, bliss, if from Naeem
Arabic naʿīm means ease, comfort or bliss, and is used in the Qur'an of the pleasures of paradise; that reading is settled for Naeem. Naheem is not that transliteration — the h does not correspond to the Arabic ʿayn — and it may equally be a formation on the -eem rhyme family that includes Raheem, Kareem, Jakeem and Waseem. No source establishes which.
Pronouncing Naheem
nah-HEEM
Two syllables, stress on the second, with a long ee. The h is lightly sounded or dropped entirely, giving nah-EEM, which is closer to the Arabic name.

The Panayiotis test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Naheem's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Panayiotis climbed just as high around 1988, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Panayiotis's path sketches the road Naheem is walking now.
Naheem sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
