Mishelle
Feminine · “who is like God?”
Mishelle keeps the French ending and gives up the French beginning. The -elle at the back is exactly as it is in Michelle, Danielle and Gabrielle; the sh at the front is a phonetic correction that French would never make. The result is a spelling that is half faithful and half honest, which is an unusual combination.

The story of Mishelle
The angel appears by name in three scriptures and is described in all of them as a commander or a prince, which is why the name spread across the whole Abrahamic world rather than within one part of it. The women's forms came much later and mostly from France, which built Michelle out of Michel with the -elle ending it uses for every masculine name it feminizes. American and Latin American families then respelled it in both directions at once — some toward phonetic transparency, some toward the French look. This spelling did both, which is why it has the sh of the first and the double l and final e of the second.
Meaning
who is like God?
Michael's Hebrew is a question — who is like God — asked in the expectation that nobody is. It is a name that argues a point rather than describing a person, which puts it in a very small class. The archangel who carries it is named in the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament and the Quran, in each case as a figure of authority. All of that descends intact through French Michel and Michelle to every respelling, including this one.

The Patrecia test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Mishelle's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Patrecia climbed just as high around 1940, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Patrecia's path sketches the road Mishelle is walking now.
Mishelle sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- The sh makes the opening unambiguous while the -elle keeps the name's French shape.
- Elle and Shelle are both available as short forms and both are complete names.
- The name behind it is recognized across three religious traditions and every European language.
- Michelle is the standard spelling and this will be rewritten as that on nearly every document.
- Mishell, Michele and Michelle are all close, so the sh, the double l and the final e each have to be given separately.
- The mixed spelling reads as neither French nor phonetic, and readers of both kinds will notice the half they object to.
