Our story of Keyonte
The -onte ending has an unusual property: it puts the stress at the very back of the name, which American naming otherwise rarely does. Most English names, and nearly all English words of two or three syllables, carry their weight at or near the front. Devonte, Davonte, Keyonte, Duante and Trevonte all put it at the end, and that alone makes them sound different from the names around them. Where the pattern came from is not documented, though French final stress is often suggested and the -ante and -onte endings appear in American records at about the same time as Antoine, Marquis and Jermaine were widely used. Keyonte's peak in 2001 sits at the family's late edge, and the whole set had faded from the top thousand within a decade.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No source establishes an etymology. The Key- opening is a spelling of the sound in Keon and Keyon; the -onte and -ante endings appear in American records from the 1980s in Davante, Devonte and Duante and have no traceable source. Nothing in the name descends from an older language, and glosses offered in name books are inventions.
