The story of Henrry
Henry was carried into England by the Normans and worn by eight kings, which fixed it permanently in English use. Spanish had its own version, Enrique, but Latin American families in the twentieth century took the English spelling directly, as they did with a great many English names, and adjusted it: Spanish uses a doubled r to mark a strongly rolled sound, so Henrry writes the name the way Spanish would say it. It is common in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru, and it came to American records from there.
