The story of Eusebio
Eusebius of Caesarea wrote the Ecclesiastical History in the early fourth century, and almost everything known about the first three centuries of Christianity passes through him; several other bishops and martyrs of the name kept it in the calendar. Spanish, Portuguese and Italian took it as Eusebio, and it was widely given across Latin America and the Philippines into the twentieth century. It came to American records with families from those places.

The Ancil test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Eusebio's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Ancil climbed just as high around 1901, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Ancil's path sketches the road Eusebio is walking now.
Eusebio sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
