The story of Eladio
Names of origin were ordinary across the late Roman empire, and several of them became Christian names through saints: a seventh-century archbishop of Toledo called Eladio fixed this one in Spain, and it has been given there and across Latin America since. Spanish also has Eladia for daughters. The name was widely used in Mexico, Cuba, Paraguay and the Philippines through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and it came to American records with families from those countries.

The Isidoro test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Eladio's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Isidoro climbed just as high around 1929, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Isidoro's path sketches the road Eladio is walking now.
