Daijon is overwhelmingly a boys’ name — 755 boys against 5 girls since 1880.
Dai is Welsh for David, and Jon is John. Daijon puts two of the commonest names in Europe together without meaning to, which is the ordinary condition of an assembled name: the pieces come from the sound stock, and any meaning they carry arrives by accident.

Our story of Daijon
Dai is one of the great Welsh nicknames. It comes from Dafydd, David, and it is so strongly associated with Welshmen that the English nickname Taffy for a Welshman derives from it, through the same name in its other pronunciation. Jon is John, the most used man's name in European history, itself Hebrew Yochanan. So Daijon contains, by pure coincidence, the patron saint of Wales and the Baptist. Coincidences of this kind are common in assembled names and they are worth naming as coincidences, because reference books are quick to present them as etymologies. The test is simple: was the source available to the person doing the assembling? A parent choosing between Daijon, Daijion and Dayjon in 1997 was choosing a sound, not a saint, and treating the result as a Welsh-Hebrew compound would be inventing an intention nobody had.
Meaningnot established
Not established
Daijon has no inherited etymology. It joins a Dai- or Da- opening to the -jon ending seen in Rajon and Dejon. Both halves happen to exist as real names elsewhere: Dai is the Welsh familiar form of Dafydd, David, and Jon is a standard form of John. Neither is the source here. The peak is 1997.

The Gentle test

Daijon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Gentle climbed just as high around 1918, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Gentle's path sketches the road Daijon is walking now.
Daijon sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
