Our story of Alizay
This is what happens when a sound crosses several communities at once. Around 2010 the syllables ah-lee-ZAY were in the American air from at least three directions: the French singer Alizée, whose records sold across Europe from 1999; the Urdu Alizeh, arriving with Pakistani families and carried further by Pakistani television drama; and the Hebrew Aliza, long established in Jewish naming. Each community spells it its own way, and American parents outside all three heard the sound and wrote it as it sounds. Alizay is that spelling — phonetic, unattached, and impossible to trace back to one of the three. It peaked in 2010 and the honest thing to say is that its meaning depends entirely on which of the three a family had in mind, and that the letters do not tell you.

Not established
Three candidates circulate and none is established for this spelling. Hebrew ʿAlîzāh means joyful and is a genuine name. French Alizée is from alizé, the trade wind, and was popularized by the singer of that name from 2000. Urdu and Persian Alizeh is used across Pakistan and Iran with no agreed etymology of its own. Alizay matches the sound of all three and the orthography of none, and the American record is silent on which families meant which.
Pronouncing Alizay
ah-lee-ZAY
Three syllables, stress on the last. Some American families say uh-LEE-zay with the weight in the middle, and the spelling does not decide between them.

The Linzy test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Alizay's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Linzy climbed just as high around 1990, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Linzy's path sketches the road Alizay is walking now.
Alizay sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
