Spelled the English way, every Spanish speaker who reads it aloud will get it wrong — Jaime in Spanish is HIGH-may, which is a different name entirely. So the family spells it the way Spanish spells that sound: Yeimi. The same reasoning produces Yeison for Jason, Yulisa for Julissa, Yaquelin for Jacqueline, Maikol for Michael and Estiven for Steven. Latin America has been doing this since at least the 1970s and the resulting names are entirely real.
