The story of Victory
Victoria was a Roman goddess as well as a noun, and her image on imperial coinage — winged, holding a wreath — became one of the standard figures of Roman art. English took victory in the fourteenth century. Its use as a given name is Puritan in origin and appears in American records in real numbers around the end of the First World War, for obvious reasons.
Meaning
victory, conquest
From Latin victoria, on vincere, to conquer; Victoria was also a Roman goddess with temples and coinage. The same verb gives convince, evict and invincible.

The Gregoria test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Victory's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Gregoria climbed just as high around 1903, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Gregoria's path sketches the road Victory is walking now.
Victory sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
