The story of Tzivia
Zibiah is named once in Second Kings and once in Chronicles as the mother of a king, which is all the Bible gives. The name's real life is later: Tzivia and Tzvi became an established Ashkenazi pair, and the gazelle image runs through Jewish naming — Tzvi with the Yiddish Hirsh, both deer, is one of the classic Hebrew-Yiddish name pairs. American records show Tzivia from the mid-twentieth century and rising since, concentrated in Orthodox and Hasidic communities in New York and New Jersey. Its peak in 2010 reflects those communities' birth rates rather than any wider fashion.
Meaning
Gazelle, doe
From Hebrew ṣĕviyyāh, the feminine of ṣĕvî, a gazelle or roe deer. The reading is settled. The name appears in the Bible: Zibiah of Beersheba was the mother of King Joash of Judah. The animal is a standard image of beauty and swiftness in Hebrew poetry, which is most of the name's warmth.

The Nuala test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Tzivia's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nuala climbed just as high around 1965, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nuala's path sketches the road Tzivia is walking now.
Tzivia sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- The meaning is settled, concrete and genuinely graceful.
- It has a biblical bearer, brief as her mention is.
- Tzivi works as a warm short form.
- The tz opening is unfamiliar in English and will be mispronounced.
- Tzivia, Tzivya, Zivia and Zibiah are all in use.
- It marks the bearer's community clearly, which is either the point or something to weigh.
