The story of Shelley
His cremation on an Italian beach produced one of the strangest afterlives in literature. He drowned at twenty-nine, the body washed up and was burned on the sand under quarantine regulations, and one of the party present reportedly reached into the fire and took out the heart, which had not burned. It went eventually to his widow, who is said to have kept it in her desk wrapped in a page of his poetry for the rest of her life, and it was buried with their son decades later. Physicians have since suggested it was probably the liver, which does not improve the story.

The Olga test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Shelley's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Olga climbed just as high around 1916, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Olga's path sketches the road Shelley is walking now.
Shelley sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off

- Its peak was large and recent enough to date the name to a decade.
- Shelly and Shelli are both in use and the spelling gets queried.
- The record holds a few boys as well, and the boy is much the smaller side.
