Rashaud
Masculine
Rashid is one of the ninety-nine names of God in Islam, and that raises a question the name itself does not answer. The traditional convention is to prefix Abd, servant of, before a divine attribute — Abd al-Rashid, servant of the rightly-guiding. Using the attribute bare is common, and it is debated.

The story of Rashaud
Islamic naming practice draws a distinction that Western practice does not. Names of God may be given to people only with the prefix Abd, servant of — Abdullah, Abdulrahman, Abdulaziz — while the bare attribute is understood as belonging to God alone. In practice many attributes are also ordinary human adjectives, and Rashid is one of them: it is used freely as a personal name across the Arab world, including by the ninth-century caliph Harun al-Rashid, and few would regard it as presumptuous. The scrupulous position and the common practice differ, and both are worth knowing. In America the name and its respellings entered widely from the 1970s; Rashaud peaks in 1993, at the end of that wave.
Meaning
Arabic "rightly guided" or "right-minded"
From Arabic rashīd, from the root r-sh-d, right guidance or maturity of judgment — the same root as rushd, sound sense, and murshid, a guide. Ar-Rashīd, the Guide to the Right Path, is one of the ninety-nine divine names. The -aud ending of Rashaud is a French orthographic pattern, as in Renaud and Thibaud; it is not Arabic and carries no meaning.

Pronouncing Rashaud
ruh-SHOD
Two syllables, stress on the second. The -aud is said like the English word odd or awed depending on region. Arabic Rashīd is ra-SHEED, with a long ee, which the -aud spelling has moved away from.

The Germain test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Rashaud's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Germain climbed just as high around 1972, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Germain's path sketches the road Rashaud is walking now.
Rashaud sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
