Quintina
Feminine · “the fifth”
Quintina means fifth, and Roman naming had a problem with daughters that the numbers only partly solved: Roman women often had no personal name at all. A daughter of the Julius family was Julia; if there were two, they were Julia the elder and Julia the younger; if there were more, they were numbered.

The story of Quintina
The Roman system looks brutal to modern eyes and made sense in its own terms. A man had three names — a personal one, a clan one and a family branch — and the personal one came from a list of about eighteen, which is why Roman history is full of men called Marcus and Gaius. A woman had the clan name and nothing else. It was not that daughters were unnamed so much as that the naming system was about placing a person in a family rather than distinguishing them within it, and for women the family was the whole of the information anybody thought was required.
Meaning
the fifth
The name is the feminine of Quintus, one of the small stock of Roman men's first names, most of which were numbers — Quintus, Sextus, Septimus, Decimus. For women the practice was different and more austere: the family name in its feminine form served as the personal name, and distinguishing between sisters was done with adjectives and numerals rather than with names of their own.
