The story of Quin
Conn of the Hundred Battles is a legendary high king in the Irish annals, and the name was borne widely afterwards; O Cuinn families are found in Clare, Tyrone and Longford. The village of Quin in County Clare has a fifteenth-century friary that still stands. The surname crossed to America with Irish emigration and became a first name in the twentieth century, for both sexes; the single-n spelling is the older one and the rarer one now.
