Myasia
Feminine
Myasia is a place name with a possessive front. Asia was a genuinely popular American girls' name in the 1990s, inside the top two hundred, and My- is one of the prefixes American naming uses to individualise an existing name. Put them together and you get a name that reads as both a continent and a claim on it. Its American peak is 2004.

Our story of Myasia
The prefixes of American naming each carry a slightly different flavor, and My- is the most personal of them. La- suggests the French article; Sha- and Ta- read as rhythmic; Za- reads as modern. My- reads as possession, because it is the English word, and the ear hears it that way whether or not anyone intended it. Attached to Asia, a name that was fashionable in its own right through the 1990s, it produces something with a strange double reading — a continent held close. Whether any of that was in a particular parent's mind cannot be known and is not the point. What can be observed is that My- names cluster in exactly the same decades as the names they are built on, which tells you the prefix was never independent: it moved when its host names moved, and it faded when they did.

The second element is a genuine word: Asia is a Greek geographical term, first used of the western part of Anatolia and then extended to the whole landmass, and its own origin is probably Akkadian asu, 'to rise' — the direction of the sunrise. But Myasia as a whole has no documented meaning; the My- prefix is an American naming element, not a word. There is also a possible second parent: Aisha, the Arabic name, is said close enough to Asia in American English that the two have influenced each other.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method

The Kellen test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Myasia's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Kellen climbed just as high around 1987, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Kellen's path sketches the road Myasia is walking now.
Myasia sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
