The story of Jasson
Jason led the Argonauts in the oldest layer of Greek myth and appears again in the New Testament as a Greek-speaking Jewish Christian who shelters Paul, which is how the name entered Christian use. English-speaking countries made it very common in the nineteen-seventies, and Latin America adopted it soon after, spelling it for Spanish and Portuguese orthography: Jasson, Jeyson, Yeison and Jaison all render the same sound. The doubled s in this one keeps the vowel short in Spanish reading, which is exactly what it is there to do.
