Iriana
Feminine
Iriana is an -ana name whose front element could be two different things. Iris is a Greek goddess and a flower; Irina is the Russian form of Irene, peace. Iriana sits between them, and the middle a — which neither parent has — is what marks it as an American formation rather than a European one.

Our story of Iriana
The -ana ending is the most productive lengthener in American naming, and it works on almost anything: Bri gives Briana, Jul gives Juliana, Ari gives Ariana, Ali gives Aliana. What it produces is a four-syllable name with a central stress and an open ending — the most conventionally feminine shape English has — from a front element of any origin at all. Iriana takes a front that already sounds European and adds the ending, so the result reads as a real Italian or Spanish name that a reader has simply not met. That impression is worth naming honestly: the name is well made, the sound is entirely plausible, and there is nothing behind it. Iriana peaked in 2004, alongside Ariana, Adriana and Juliana, all of which do have histories.
Meaningnot established
Not established
Iris is Greek for rainbow and the name of the messenger goddess, a settled etymology. Irene is Greek eirene, peace, equally settled, and gives Russian Irina. Iriana is not a form of either in any language; the inserted a makes it a new word. The compound has no meaning, and reference works that assign it one are reading through to a parent it does not actually descend from.

The Jeniece test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Iriana's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Jeniece climbed just as high around 1984, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Jeniece's path sketches the road Iriana is walking now.
Iriana sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
