Our story of Demario
Ours, offered as ours. Marius was a Roman family name centuries before it was Italian — Gaius Marius reformed the Roman army and held the consulship seven times. Italian kept Mario and it became one of the country's characteristic men's names. Demario puts the De- prefix in front of it, which is the same move that produced Deandre and Demarcus, and the result is a name with a Roman general somewhere behind it and a twentieth-century American front.

of Mars
Mario is documented: the Italian form of Marius, a Roman family name generally connected to the god Mars, though a connection to a word for the sea has also been proposed. Whether Demario was built on it deliberately or assembled from De- and -mario is not recorded.

The Stanford test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Demario's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Stanford climbed just as high around 1931, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Stanford's path sketches the road Demario is walking now.
Demario sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
