Savannah, Sierra, Charlotte, Georgia, Aspen, Sedona and Brooklyn all pass. Brooklyn is from the Dutch Breukelen, transferred to New Netherland in 1646; the Dutch name is variously read as broken land or marshland and is not settled. Brookelyn is an American respelling that inserts the English word brook, which has nothing to do with the origin. The -lyn ending is read as the American suffix, which likewise is not part of the Dutch name.
