The story of Zamora
Zamora sat on the frontier between Christian and Muslim Spain and changed hands repeatedly; the siege of 1072 during which King Sancho II was killed gave the proverb. The city preserves twenty-four Romanesque churches. The surname reached American given-name use in the 2010s, part of the wider surname-name movement, and is in current use.

Not established
The city's name is genuinely unrecovered. Proposals include the Arabic samurah, 'a place of turquoise' or 'sapphire', an earlier Celtic form, and a pre-Roman origin. None is established. The Spanish proverb no se ganó Zamora en una hora — Zamora was not won in an hour — refers to a long medieval siege.

The Jiya test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Zamora's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Jiya climbed just as high around 2008, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Jiya's path sketches the road Zamora is walking now.
Zamora sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
