Janet is three countries at once. Jane is the English feminine of John; -et is a French diminutive; and the combination became the standard Scottish form, so a Scots name is an English name with a French ending. Yanet is the Spanish respelling of the result.

The story of Yanet
The French diminutive suffixes -et and -ette were borrowed into English along with a large stock of names after the Conquest, and they attached freely: Janet, Harriet, Juliet, Emmet, Bennet. Scotland took Janet particularly, and it was among the most common Scottish women's names from the sixteenth century to the nineteenth, with Jenny and Jess as its familiar forms. The Spanish-facing respellings — Yanet, Yaneth, Janeth — belong to the Latin American Y- naming wave of the late twentieth century, and they mark a Central American or Colombian community rather than a Scottish one. Yanet peaks in America in 1994.
Meaning
Hebrew "Yahweh is gracious", with a French diminutive
Jane is from French Jehanne, the feminine of Jehan, from Latin Iohannes, from Hebrew Yohanan. The -et suffix is a French diminutive, so Janet is little Jane. It became the standard Scottish form and was very common there. Yanet is a Latin American respelling replacing the j, which in Spanish would be a breathy h.

Yanet's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Kammy climbed just as high around 1962, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Kammy's path sketches the road Yanet is walking now.
Yanet sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
