The story of Tyler
Occupational surnames were among the earliest English ones, and Tyler is documented from the thirteenth century — Wat Tyler led the Peasants' Revolt of 1381. The surname crossed into American given-name use in the twentieth century, helped by a president, and rose enormously for boys from the 1980s. Feminine use followed and peaked in the mid-1990s.
