Tyleah
Feminine · “Hebrew Leah”
Leah is the unloved sister, and the Bible says so directly: Jacob served seven years for Rachel, was given Leah instead, and loved Rachel more. Yet six of the twelve tribes descend from Leah, and so does the royal line, and she is buried beside Jacob at Hebron while Rachel is not. The narrative gives her everything except affection.

The story of Tyleah
The Genesis account is unusually blunt about the arrangement. Jacob is deceived at the wedding, works another seven years, and the text records that the Lord saw Leah was hated and opened her womb. She names her first three sons in a sequence of hopes that her husband will now love her, and by the fourth she stops and simply gives thanks. That fourth son is Judah, from whom the kings and, in Christian tradition, the Messiah descend. Levi, the third, gives the priesthood. So the whole religious and political structure of Israel comes through the sister nobody wanted. Whether the names of the two sisters are really a ewe and a wild cow is disputed, but if they are, they belong to a pastoral naming vocabulary that would have been entirely ordinary in the period, and the pairing is deliberate.
Meaningscholars disagree
Hebrew Leah, weary, or possibly a wild cow
The traditional derivation is from a Hebrew root meaning to be weary. An alternative connects it to an Akkadian word for a wild cow, which would pair it with Rachel, whose name means a ewe, and make both sisters' names livestock terms. Neither is settled. Tyleah joins the Ty- prefix, harvested from Tyrone and Tyler, to the name, and is an American formation. It peaks in 2014.

Three syllables, stress on the second. The Hebrew Leah is LEH-ah with two short vowels, and English speakers say LEE-ah. The terminal h is silent in both.

The Camilia test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Tyleah's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Camilia climbed just as high around 1990, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Camilia's path sketches the road Tyleah is walking now.
Tyleah sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
