The story of Tamara
Tamar traveled from Hebrew into Georgian and Russian, and Tamar of Georgia — who reigned from 1184 and is a saint of the Georgian church — made it a national name. Russian literature carried it westward, and English-speaking countries took it up in the twentieth century. American use rose sharply through the 1960s and peaked in the mid-1970s.

Tamara's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Vivian climbed just as high around 1920, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Vivian's path sketches the road Tamara is walking now.
