The Alfonse test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Rosendo's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Alfonse climbed just as high around 1911, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Alfonse's path sketches the road Rosendo is walking now.
Rosendo sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- A settled Germanic meaning with both elements clearly attested.
- Chendo is a warm and established Spanish short form.
- A documented Galician saint and monastery founder behind it.
- The rose in the spelling is a coincidence and not the meaning.
- It reads as of an older generation to Spanish speakers.
- Seven letters and three syllables is a fair amount for early handwriting.
