The story of Rosario
The rosarium was literally a rose garden, and the devotional practice of counting prayers as a garland gave the beads their name by the fifteenth century. Nuestra Señora del Rosario is a major Marian title, and Spanish naming took Rosario from it. It appears in American records in current use.
Meaning
rosary, rose garden
From the Latin rosarium, 'rose garden' or 'garland of roses', from rosa. Medieval devotion imagined each prayer as a rose offered to the Virgin, and the bead string took the name. Spanish Rosario is feminine as a given name and masculine in Italian. The etymology is documented.

The Elease test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Rosario's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Elease climbed just as high around 1923, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Elease's path sketches the road Rosario is walking now.
Rosario sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
