The story of Noralee
A Doll's House was staged in Copenhagen in 1879 and caused enough outrage that Ibsen was pressured into writing an alternative ending for the German production, in which Nora stays; he called it a barbaric outrage against the play and it was quickly dropped. The final scene became one of the most discussed moments in European theater, and the play spread rapidly through translation. Nora had been in use in Ireland and Scandinavia beforehand and became far more visible after. The American compound Noralee belongs to the -lee wave of the early twentieth century and peaks in 1934.

Latin "honor", by way of Honora
Nora is generally a clip of Honora, from Latin honor, or of Eleanor, whose own etymology is unsettled. Both routes are live. Noralee joins it to the American -lee ending, which carries no meaning. Ibsen's character is Nora Helmer, and the name was already ordinary in Norway and Ireland before the play.

The Floree test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Noralee's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Floree climbed just as high around 1919, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Floree's path sketches the road Noralee is walking now.
Noralee sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
