The story of Levon
Levon I was crowned king of Cilician Armenia in 1198, and four more kings of the name followed; the kingdom lasted until 1375. The name remains among the most-used in Armenian communities worldwide. Armenian emigration brought it to America, where a 1971 song of the name gave it further visibility. It is in current use.
Meaning
lion
From the Greek leon, 'lion', through Armenian Levon and Leon. The word is ordinary and the meaning undisputed. The Armenian form is a direct borrowing of the Greek rather than a separate development, which is why it stays so close.

The Levie test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Levon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Levie climbed just as high around 1908, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Levie's path sketches the road Levon is walking now.
Levon sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
